The mushrooming Hyundai brand puts the petal to the metal with their new luxury coupe, the Genesis. Like its big brother, the Hyundai Genesis Sedan, the coupe’s competitors like the InfinitiG37, Mazda RX-8, BMW 335i Coupe and Ford Mustang GT are surely taking note and recognizing that Hyundai is simply no joke.
J’Adore’s 3.8L V6 Coupe model came in the eye-catching Mirabeau Blue complete with monstrous 19-inch wheel, sexy, sleek exterior curves marked with their patented “Z-shaped” character line that made it look like it was speeding even though it was parked.

When driving this peppy piece of machinery, its very responsive acceleration took some getting used, but the highly touted rear-wheel-drive dynamics lived up to the move-making hype. The V6 DOHC heart pumped out 306 HP that gets it to 60 MPH in just under six seconds coupled with impeccable handling to match when embracing curvy roads.
The front seat of the Coupe was like a cockpit, with chestnut brown, low-laying leather seats that hug the front passengers while the backseat was merciless for anyone over 5-ft. tall. But hey, it’s a sports car. What do you expect?

Speaking of the aforementioned blue, the entire dash glowed with a hue of electric blue lighting, further adding a “coolness factor” to some already impressive amenities. Eye-catching features include 5-link independent suspension, a Brembo braking system, 6-speed automatic Shiftronic with paddle shifters, airbags (front, side, and side air curtain), Bluetooth, iPod/USB/Aux jack connectivity, XM Satellite Radio, A/C, leather-wrapped steering wheel (which we wished was telescopic to better accommodate varying heights of drivers), proximity key, HID headlights and Infinity premium audio sound system round out this package. The Coupe’s pricing and fuel economy are highly favorable when a potential buyer compares them with other competitors, about $30,000 with all of the bells and whistles (including the optional Track package for higher performance handling and 19-inch wheels), and EPA fuel economy around 17-21 MPG city, 26-30 MPG highway.
Hyundai is certainly on the rise and according recent rankings including Consumer Reports, their Sedan version of the Genesis has taken the top spot. Evidently, thanks to the Genesis and other models, the rest of the world better be on point because Korea is the new import brand that’s seriously getting others nervous!
